TLA Educational Trust

TLA Educational Trust is an educational charitable trust with manifold objectives to serve the underprivileged and the needy by providing the needed education, training in skills, scholarship, equipment and counseling so as to equip, encourage, and empower individuals to become useful member of the society. TLA Educational Board of Trustee meets more than twice every year to make decision and transact business for the trust. The source of all sponsorship has been personal donations of individuals who share similar concerns and often volunteers to serve the trust in more than one form of resources.

A Warm welcome from the Managing Trustee! It is with great pleasure and a strong sense of purpose that I welcome you to the TLA-ET webpage. At TLA-ET we believe education is the most effective ramp for individual empowerment and community progress. Our mission is to develop a new generation of leaders across Asia who understand personal agency and are academically able, ethically sound, socially aware and globally informed.

In the near future, we will see these transformative leaders emerging to innovate, drive sustainable development and create bridges as they build a more just and prosperous society for all.

Through various initiatives, programs and partnership, TLA-ET delivers accessible quality education that builds critical thinking, creativity and compassionate leadership. It engages beneficiaries to develop the skills and attitudes that will build the capacity and confidence to deal with impending challenges and new opportunities as we transition to an ever changing and complex world.

Khiangte

Managing Trustee

Mr. Siamliana Khiangte,

a member of the Mizo community, has been associated with the TLA Educational Trust since 2014, initially serving as the Joint Managing Trustee. In August 2023, he was appointed as the Managing Trustee.

Born and raised in Arunachal Pradesh, he completed his early education there before earning a B.Sc. degree from Shillong College, Shillong, Meghalaya. Following his graduation, he pursued a Diploma in Computer Education from the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), Shillong Centre.

Upon completing his diploma, he joined NIIT as a faculty member, where he taught for four years. He was later promoted to Senior Faculty at NIIT Chandmari Centre in Guwahati and subsequently became the Centre In-charge at NIIT Shillong Centre.

Responding to call, he resigned from his professional career to join Dr. A. K. Lama—the Executive Director of TLA Ministries. He served as a ministry associate with TLA Ministries for five years before joining the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) as a Program Assistant, a role in which he continues to serve.

Mr. Khiangte is married to Lumthaina Longmei, and they are blessed with a son, Edward Remliana Khiangte.

Mr. T. Moa Ao

Joint Managing Trustee

Mr. Moa Ao

joined TLA-ET as the Managing Director in April 2024. Prior to this role, he served as the Assistant Director at CLC Dimapur, Nagaland. As a trustee member actively involved in TLA Ministries since its inception, Mr. Ao has demonstrated a strong commitment to service-oriented initiatives and community development. With his extensive experience and unwavering dedication to uplifting communities, we are confident that Mr. Ao’s leadership will steer TLA-ET toward new levels of success and positive impact.

Mr. Ao holds a Master’s degree in Geography. He is blessed with a loving and talented wife, and together they have two children—a daughter and a son.

Mr. Jinoy Sangma

Treasurer

Mr. Jinoy Sangma

has been faithfully serving with the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) for the past 15 years. In 2023, he was appointed as the Treasurer of TLA Educational Trust (TLA-ET), though his involvement with the Trust dates back much earlier.

Known for his soft-spoken demeanor, humble spirit, and servant-hearted nature, Mr. Jinoy has been a quiet yet strong pillar of support to TLA-ET since its early days. His consistent and sincere involvement, often behind the scenes, has been instrumental in the growth and stability of the Trust.

He is married and blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Dr. Asangla Ao

Dr. Asangla Ao

is a medical doctor with an MBBS degree from Assam Medical College (AMC), Assam, and has been actively involved in social activities for over 25 years. She served as the Treasurer of the TLA Educational Trust from 2014 to 2023 and currently continues to contribute as a Trustee Member.

Dr. Asangla Ao holds a Master of Divinity from Samford University, Alabama, USA, and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Trinity International University (TIU), Illinois, USA. Originally from Changki village in Mokokchung, Nagaland, she is settled in Guwahati, Assam now.

Dr. A.K.
Lama

Trustee Member

Dr. A. K. Lama

is a veterinary doctor by profession and holds both a Doctor of Ministry and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Hailing from a Buddhist family background in Arunachal Pradesh, he is the visionary and founding figure behind the TLA Educational Trust (TLA-ET).

Dr. Lama served as the Managing Trustee of TLA-ET from 2014 to 2023. Based in Guwahati during his tenure, he brought with him a wealth of experience from an illustrious career marked by significant responsibilities. His previous roles include: Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Government of Arunachal Pradesh (1984–1990); Regional Secretary, Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) (1990–1998); Minister of Missions, First Baptist Church of Birmingham, USA (1999–2002); Senior Pastor, Shillong Baptist Church (2007–2008); General Secretary, Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India (CBCNEI) (2008–2014)

In addition to these roles, he currently serves as the honorary Senior Pastor of the International Evangelical Church in Guwahati.

From 2023 onward, Dr. Lama has chosen to serve TLA-ET as a Trustee member, continuing to offer his guidance and support to the team while stepping back from executive responsibilities.

His favorite verse is Eccle 12:13-14, “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandment, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”

Mr. Kampu
Thangzom

Trustee Member

Mr. Kampu Thangzom

is the Founder and President of Asia Antioch Seminary, a theological institution committed to equipping and empowering community leaders across Asia. He is also one of the esteemed Trustee Members of the TLA Educational Trust (TLA-ET), having supported its mission and vision since the very inception of the organization.

As a leader and educator, he continues to play a significant role in strengthening different organizations across the region, while also actively supporting the growth and impact of TLA-ET.

 ‘’However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.’’ Acts 20:24

Mrs. Bina Sena

Trustee Member

Mrs. Bina Sena

is the wife of the late Setong Sena, former Minister and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh. Though she comes from a distinguished political background, Mrs. Sena has always had a heart for social service and has been a steadfast supporter of the TLA Educational Trust (TLA-ET) for many years.

Motivated by a deep compassion for the underprivileged, especially the labour class and women, she resonates strongly with the vision and mission of TLA-ET. Her unwavering support stems from her belief in the transformative power of education and leadership development, particularly among the marginalized sections of society.

Despite her quiet presence, Mrs. Sena plays a meaningful role in encouraging and uplifting the initiatives of the Trust. Her dedication and genuine concern continue to be a source of strength to the team.

She is a proud mother of two children and remains actively engaged in service-oriented causes that reflect her values of care, dignity, and empowerment.

Mr. John Padung

Mr. John Padung

is a respected church leader currently serving as the President of the Arunachal Baptist Church Council (ABCC), based in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. Previously, he served as the Executive Secretary of the Adi Baptist Council, providing administrative leadership to churches within the region.

Mr. Padung is deeply passionate about partnering with organizations that share a vision for holistic transformation, leadership development, and community empowerment. He joined the TLA Educational Trust (TLA-ET) as a Trustee Member in 2019, and since then, he has been an integral part of the organization’s journey. Mr. Padung continues to support TLA-ET with dedication, bringing both experience and a deep sense of purpose to the mission of nurturing transformational leaders across Northeast India.

Charitable activities

A brief highlight of the Activities from the Year 2013-15

Charitable activities

TLA Educational Trust sponsored several events mobilizing the village level social workers, youths, and women for to motivate them spiritually and morally to serve the society sacrificially for peace and harmony. They were trained to be facilitator, speakers, agents of peace, capacity builder, and mobilizers. The objective was to strengthen the moral fabrics of the society they individually belonged:

  • Community Workers Conference in Guwahati (March 12-15, 2012) – 59 participants
  • Seminar on Counselling, Guwahati (Nov 12-16, 2012) – 59 participants
  • Training for the Social Workers, Kulajan (Nov 3-4, 2013) – 150 participants
  • Leaders training program in Pasighat (Sept 13-15, 2013) – 450 participants
  • Leaders Training Program in Guwahati (Sept 27-29, 2014) – 35 participants
  • Renewal Conference, Guwahati (Nov 7-10, 2014) – 39 participants
  • Mentoring Program, Imphal (Sept 27-29, 2015) – 50 participants
  • Leaders training Conference (Nov 12-15, 2015) -120 participants
Equipping Youths and Women

In a separate program, 10 bicycles, 40 motorbikes, four laptops were donated by individual to the needy youths and women workers to help the village level social works to serve the community more effectively.

On three different occasions 100 volumes of reference books, other helpful educational books and stationaries were also distributed to children and village level workers

TLA Educational Trust is privileged to have highly motivated Board of Trustee who are resourceful gifted, and talented as well very willing to sacrificially serve the Trust on honorary basis. We are hopeful to enhance our charitable activities in 2016-17.
